The first annual Blue Ridge Fiber Fest was held in Sparta, North Carolina on June 2 and 3, 2018.   This area of northwest North Carolina and Southwest Virginia is deeply steeped in the tradition of the fiber arts.  Set among the mountains, just a few miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway, Sparta offers a small town quaintness, not far from bigger cities and a more metropolis-like atmosphere.

The festival focus is first upon the farmer.   Animals  on display for their beautiful fiber, surrounded by their shepherds who can speak for them and educate a curious public.  We  provided services for farmers as well.  From shearing to product photography, we are dedicated to the enhancement of your business and the growth of the family farm.  If there is something you'd like to see us provide in the 2020 festival, send us an email and we will do our best to have it available.

The Mountain Homespun Fiber Guild is a great support for the fiber fest. The guild provided demonstrations of the fiber arts; ran the complimentary yarn winding station, and even had a few art pieces to raffle off.  The guild generally coordinated  volunteers for the first fiber fest and hand made little fiber angels as gifts to each vendor and instructors. In 2019, the guild continued with their now “tradition” of providing a small gift for the vendor and a fun game for our patrons. Fiber Friend-zees were given to each vendor. Each Friend-zee had a word attached that had something to do with the fiber arts. Patrons (and a lot of kids) hunted the words on their game card, and when completed, turned it in for an additional door prize ticket. Thank you to the guild for their great support of our festival.

The Blue Ridge Fiber Fest is a North Carolina registered non-profit. We are recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation. Your support of the fiber fest goes to advance the fiber arts in this regional area, and we are proud of the work we are accomplishing. We are directed by a five member board of directors.
