Eco-Print on Silk and Wool

Learn to create beautiful fabric with nature. Gather leaves and plants and learn how to imprint them directly onto silk and wool using a water bath process. Eco-printing (botanical printing) uses the tannins from the leaves to leave realistic images, faux textures and natural coloring on treated fabric. Leave with 2 beautiful scarves, 1 silk and 1 wool and the knowledge to continue creating at home! An all natural, sustainable, and earth friendly process.

Pre-class homework:  None

Students bring:

Some leaves and plants that you have collected. Plant materials with a high tannin content are recommended. This includes tree leaves (oak, tulip poplar, maple). sumac, and some weeds (chicory, white clover).

Class fee:  $60.00

Weave a Scarf in a Day

 YES you CAN weave a scarf in only 1 day! Learn to weave on a Rigid Heddle loom and leave at the end of the day with a scarf you have woven yourself! Weprovide the loom, the tools, a selection of appropriate yarns, and the know how!

Warp your loom in the morning and weave all afternoon. Learn tips and tricks for beautifully straight edges, how to fix mistakes, and the mechanics of operating the loom.

It's a great day! There will be a 1-hour break for lunch. Drinks must be in a container with a lid.

Class size limited to 6 students without looms. If you have your own loom and tools, you may join the class with teacher pre-approval.

Pre-class homework: None

Students bring: Scissors

Students who own their own looms can sign up for the class if they are able to bring their looms and all of the tools necessary to weave on the loom. Necessary tools: An 8-dent (or 7.5 dent) heddle, threading hook, warping peg. Optional: Loom stand.

Class duration: 6 hours

Materials fee: $15.00 for: Yarn for weaving, use of Loom, necessary tools and Loom stand (if not bringing your own)
